Moon Rocks Visit Boynton

In January, Boynton Middle School students were treated with an up close and personal look at lunar rocks thanks to Mrs. MacLeod and Mrs. Stacy. Both science teachers earned lifetime certifications by taking part in a special training program sponsored by NASA. The moon rocks are considered to be priceless national treasures because they are irreplaceable and a great deal of security surrounded their visit. They had to be in one of the teacher's possession at all times and were locked in a local bank vault at night. Encased in small plastic circular disks, the rocks and moon soil were collected during three Apollo missions in the 1970's. The students also got to see meteorite samples collected from Antarctica. Thanks Mrs. MacLeod and Mrs. Stacy, what a great opportunity for Boynton.
